Plot - Siddharth (Jiiva) is a hacker, who easily hacks someone's phone or computer through his 'Baasha Virus'. On the other side, a group of hackers destroys the life of some people through blackmail calls. How Siddharth comes to know about them and how he puts an end to them forms the crux of the story.

'Kee' is a sci-fi thriller, directed by a newcomer 'Kalees'. This film has to be released in the year 2018. Due to financial issues, the entire team couldn't make the film to release on time. After solving all the issues, the film finally released in theatres yesterday.

Positives
As usual, Jiiva delivers a convincing performance. He justifies his 'Ethical Hacker' character perfectly. Nikki Galrani and Anaika Soti have played their part decently. Govind Padmasoorya plays as the antagonist of the film. He looks very apt for that 'Bad Hacker' character. He delivers a neat performance, by giving a good tough to Jiiva in 'hacking' portions. RJ Balaji scores well with his one-liners. Rajendra PrasadSwathishta Krishnan and Suhasini Maniratnam have done their part well. Abhinandan Ramanujam's cinematography is really good. The editing looks crisp and sleek (unable to get the editor's name). Vishal Chandrasekhar's songs are not bad. But, 'Kaadhoram' song is pleasant to hear. His background score work is really impressive, which elevates the hacking portions of both the protagonist and the antagonist. Director Kalees makes a decent debut in Kollywood, through this sci-fi thriller genre. Along with a commercial package, he presents this sci-fi thriller. The detailing about the hacking and the side-effects of technology is really good. He also gives importance to father-son sentiment, which works in parts. Few dialogues are good. He frames the characterization of both the protagonist and antagonist at an equal level, where their hacking skills have been used as the weapon to fight. His screenplay execution is not bad. In the first half, the screenplay creates an interest, when dealing with the hacking portions. The interval block is really good. In the second half, the screenplay focuses on the content after an emotional incident. From there, the film maintains a good flow. The climax portion is good, in which the mind-game factor works well.

Negatives
The main drawback of this film is nothing but commercial treatment. The packaging of commercial elements in a sci-fi thriller is not a bad idea. But, how the director should treat it with some certain limits is really important. The commercial packaging should not disturb the main content in any way. In that case, the director fails to justify this point in some places. Anaika Soti plays a reporter role in this film. But, her character has been used as a glamour doll in the beginning. Only towards the pre-interval and the interval block, her character gets importance. Her role is expected to play a major role in setting the conflict between the two hackers. But, it doesn't set the conflict in such a thrilling way. After creating a great curiosity about the second half in the interval point, the second half begins in a lethargic way. For the first 20 minutes of the second half, the film focuses on the romance track between Jiiva and Nikki Galrani. So, the expectations created about the cyber war between Jiiva and Govind Padmasoorya gets completely let down by the romance track. The placement of the songs looks completely unnecessary. The logical loopholes are here and there. Swathishta Krishnan plays as Jiiva's friend in the film. Her character has an importance in the flashback portion. But, the director makes the emotional connect in a normal way only. Govind Padmasoorya's characterization could have been much stronger. The incidents which take place as a side-effect of technology is not bad. Still, it could have been executed with better ideas.

Verdict
'Kee' is neither too good nor too bad. The director's intention to create awareness about the side-effects of advanced technology is really good and appreciable. He tries to present this thriller with a commercial package, which is not bad. But, the commercial package doesn't look interesting and it creates disturbance to 'Hacking' content. Still, the portions related to technology and hacking looks good in both the half. The performance of Jiiva and Govind Padmasoorya stays strong throughout the film. You will come out of the theatre either with complete or partial satisfaction. So, this film deserves 'worth watchable once' category for the director's good attempt. Make your expectations low and watch the film with your friends.
