Plot - Rukhsana becomes abandoned after the death of her mother in an accident, caused by Arnab. So, Arnab helps her, by allowing her to stay in his house. After few days, her behaviour gets changed. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

Performance of the Star Cast - Anushka Sharma strikes well and holds the entire film on her shoulder with a mindblowing performance. Her characterisation is really well-written and she gets into the skin of that strange character very easily. Parambrata Chatterjee delivers a neat performance and stands strong with Anushka's characterisation throughout the film. Rajat Kapoor gives his best performance. Ritabhari Chakraborty gets a strong characterisation in the second half and she properly utilizes her space to perform. All the other supporting characters have done their part well.

Technical Works - Jishnu Bhattacharjee's cinematography work is really good, by giving a realistic feel of the genre. Manas Mittal's editing looks neat without any continuity issues. The background score looks good, which elevates some main scenes. Some sounds makes me to get scared.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Prosit Roy tries to differentiate his horror film from other films, by adding some supernatural elements. In some scenes, he will make us to notice his work through his unique presentation. He is true to the genre from the beginning to end. In some scenes, he gives us spine-chilling moments through the gore violence. But, he should have concentrated more on second half portions to make it interesting.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film directly enters into the main plot after 5 minutes. From there, the screenplay travels in a slow pace and becomes engaging. Towards the interval block, the screenplay travels on the right track and it gives us a shocking break point. In the second half, the screenplay is maintained on the right track for some time. Later, it starts to slow down our interest. From the revealing of main twist, the screenplay becomes back to the form. Towards the climax, the screenplay takes a top gear and it assures us of superb finishing. But, the climax is not convincing.

Main Negatives of the Film - I didn't feel any issues with the first half. But in the second half, my interest towards the film slows down to an extent. The film faces some struggles to elevate the main plot. The pre-climax promises us a superb ending, but it fails to fulfill it. The issues in the second half makes the film dull.

Verdict
'Pari Not A Fairy Tale' is a horror thriller, which is true to the genre from the beginning to end. The director gives us a convincing first half, but he fails to fulfill it completely with an average second half. So, the film deserves 'worth watchable once' for Anushka's top-notch performance.

Note - The film deals with the gore violence in many scenes, with so much of bloodshed. The weak-hearted people may feel uncomfortable with this film, because of that violence. So, those people must avoid this film for not getting mentally disturbed.

Cut Short Rating - 6.6/10
