Plot - Lalgudi Karuppiah Gandhi (a) LKG (RJ Balaji) wants to be successful in TN politics. So, he seeks the help of Sarala Munnusamy (a) Sara (Priya Anand), a political strategy consultant. But, Ramaraj Pandiyan (JK Rithesh) comes as a barrier in his political journey. How he succeeds in TN politics forms the crux of the story.
Positives
RJ Balaji delivers a very convincing performance, where he has justified his character 'LKG' in a neat way. As 'LKG' character syncs well with his usual mannerism, he gets a good comfort zone in entertaining the audience. So, he easily steals the show with his usual punches and counters. Priya Anand doesn't play an usual heroine role, who gets used only for romance portions. She plays a strong supporting character role, where she delivers her best performance. The chemistry between RJ Balaji and Priya Anand in handling political tactics works very well. Even though there is a small romantic track, it doesn't disturb the plot in any manner. JK Ritesh gets a good role, where he gets a space to score well in few major portions. Nanjil Sampath and Mayilsamy have given their good support. Vidhu Ayyanna's cinematography work is good. Anthony's editing looks sharp and sleek. Leon James's songs and background score gels well with the political content, which easily attracts the audience. RJ Balaji & Friends have taken an usual political plot only. Director KR Prabhu has given his best, to present their vision in a convincing way. The way they presented is very impressive, where everyone connects well with the political content. The screenplay moves in a good flow, without any deviation and boring elements. All political controversies/affairs in the recent years, has been used in each and every scene of the film. Many dialogues gets great applause from the audience. Even small detailing in 'FB Live' and 'Memes' content entertains the audience. So, the film provides a good laughter experience from the beginning to end. The climax portion conveys a strong social message, which looks good.
Negatives
The screenplay execution in the first half doesn't have much issues. But, the execution in the second half has few issues. After the interval, the screenplay takes time to create an interest in the initial stage. So, the engaging factor gets suddenly drops down. JK Ritesh's character becomes little bit weak at a point. Few political spoof content can be related with videos, which we have might seen in some familiar Youtube channels. The engaging factor in the second half is not stronger like the first half. But, the ending makes us to forgive it.
Verdict
'LKG' is a very good political spoof entertainer. RJ Balaji's one-man show stays strong throughout the film. Next to RJ Balaji, Priya Anand's role helps the political spoof content to travel in a right direction. All recent political controversies have been shown in a hilarious way. It makes a good connect with the audience. The screenplay in the first half is completely entertaining. In the second half, the screenplay has few issues. But, the climax conveys a good message to all. So, we will come out of the theatre with a complete satisfaction. This film deserves 'worth watchable once' category for RJ Balaji's performance and also for the good political satire experience. With low expectations, watch the film with your family and friends in theatres.
