Plot - Subash (Jayam Ravi) works as the sub-inspector of police, who wants to stand only on justice side. But, his higher officials controls him just by saying 'Obey the Order'. Still, he lives happily with his family and his lover Anitha (Raashi Khanna). A young girl has been found dead in an uncompleted apartment. When he goes to that spot, he suspects it to be a murder. But, his higher officer Muthu Karuppan orders him to close that case as 'suicide'. His conscience makes to further investigate that case. How that investigation makes him to face many problems and how he tackles it smartly forms the crux of the story.

Performance of the Star Cast - Jayam Ravi delivers a splendid performance as an honest cop. His one-man show makes the audience to get strongly connected with the film. In the action sequences, he strikes well by showing the strong rage of his character 'Subash'. He also scores well in few emotional portions too. Raashi Khanna doesn't have a strong role, still her character doesn't look as an unnecessary one. Apart from the small romance tracks, her character gets a good scope in a crucial point of the second half. She has given her best. Sampath comes as a great support for the main negative characters, throughout the film. As usual, he has delivered his usual best performance. Azhagam Perumal and Munishkanth comes as a good support for Jayam Ravi. They have played their part well. Mime Gopi delivers his usual style of evilness, in the given space. The negative lead characters of the film have delivered their decent performance. All the other actors have given their complete support. Poorna makes a decent cameo appearance, by playing a lawyer role.

Technical Works - Sathyan Sooryan's cinematography is really excellent. His visuals maintains the intensity of powerful action scenes perfectly. Ruben's editing is really good, in which his cuts looks sleek and neat. He maintains a racy screenplay flow, except in few portions. CS Sam's songs are good. 'Oh Saayali' song is my favourite. His background score is really terrific, which makes the action scenes to be interesting. The stunts choreography is superb, which is the main reason behind the mind blowing action sequences.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Karthik Thangavel makes a good debut in Kollywood, through an interesting cop thriller. The storyline of this film is an usual one only. But, he presents it in a very entertaining way, along with a proper mix of action, romance and sentiments. Without giving much importance to unnecessary tracks, his focus is clearly on the main plot only. His writing of 'Subash' character is really convincing, in which he balanced his rage and his brilliance properly. Even though the negative characters cannot be said as so strongest, he makes them to give a good tough for 'Subash' character. His dialogues are so good, which gets a great applause from the audience. His screenplay execution is the major plus, where he makes a strong connect with the audience. The social message has also been conveyed well.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film begins with a good start. Jayam Ravi's introduction scene looks terrific. After that, the screenplay deals with Jayam Ravi's family and romance tracks for few minutes. Later, the screenplay steps into the engaging factor. From there, the film keeps the audience engaged. Without any diversion, the screenplay moves on a right track. The interval block is really superb, which promises us an intriguing second half. The revenge element has been properly set at that point. In the second half, the screenplay takes time to get into it's usual flow. Later, the screenplay once again becomes engaging. At a point, the screenplay gets into a complete good form. The screenplay is really intriguing, in which it's powerful intensity has been maintained till the climax. So, the pre-climax portion and climax portion will really give you an edge of the seat experience. Instead of action, the protagonist's smart moves plays a major part in creating a great curiosity. The climax is really good and convincing. The finishing touch looks like a lead for a sequel.

Main Negatives of the Film - In the first half, an usual treatment is only seen. So, few of them may not get convinced immediately for that. Still, it doesn't give us a boring feel. Even though Jayam Ravi's immediate action on minister's son looks good, it doesn't have a main connect with the plot. Few scenes gets easily predicted. Though the second half is completely intriguing, few logical loopholes are seen here and there. Still, the screenplay execution will make you forgive it. The mobile game idea used in the pre-climax portion reminds me of 'Inayathalam' movie. Still, it differs from that movie in terms of screenplay execution.

Verdict
'Adanga Maru' is a very good cop thriller in recent times, in which the director's focus doesn't get deviated. Jayam Ravi's terrific performance is really a great plus. The first half looks usual, still it keeps us engaged. But, the screenplay execution in the second half is really excellent. It makes a strong connect with the audience. So, we will come out of the theatre with a complete satisfaction. The flaws are negligible only. This movie deserves 'must watch once' category for Jayam Ravi's action and also for the intriguing second half. Enjoy it with your family and friends in theatres.
