Plot - Vijayalakshmi (Jyothika) lives happily with her husband Balakrishnan (Vidharth) and her son. Vijayalakshmi's father always discourages her, in front of her sisters, which she doesn't like it. Once she wins a prize in 'Hello FM 106.4' contest, she goes there to collect it. There, she notices a poster of 'Neengalum RJ Aagalam'. Suddenly, she decides to become an RJ, to prove her talent. After few struggles, she gets an offer to become an RJ for a late night show in that FM. How that RJ offer disturbs her family members and how she faces it forms the crux of the story.

'Kaatrin Mozhi' is an official remake of Super-Hit Bollywood film 'Tumhari Sulu', where Vidya Balan played the main lead. In this film, Jyothika plays the main lead. Along with Jyothika, Vidharth and Lakshmi Manchu are also playing the lead roles.

Note - I haven't watched the original version 'Tumhari Sulu'. So, I have written my review of 'Kaatrin Mozhi' without any comparison with it.

Performance of the Star Cast - Jyothika delivers an effortless performance, which makes her character 'Vijayalakshmi' to be memorable one to the audience. She easily steals the show, just with her smile. She makes us to laugh for her funny acts and also to feel for her strong emotions. Vidharth delivers an extraordinary performance. In both romantic and emotional portions, he scores very well. The chemistry between Jyothika and Vidharth is really superb, which makes the romance to be cute. Lakshmi Manchu and Kumaravel have played the main supporting characters of the film. They both delivers a convincing performance. Mayilsaamy entertains the audience, with a good humour in the first half. MS Bhaskar delivers his usual best emotional performance in the second half. Sandra Amy Prajin gives a good justification for her character. Manobala, Mohan Raman, Uma Padmanabhan, Sindhu Shekaran and Seema Taneja have also justified their characters neatly. Sindhu, Narayanan Lucky, Madhumitha and Master Tejas Krishna have done their part well. The cameo appearance of STR and Yogi Babu gets a good response.

Technical Works - Mahesh Muthuswami's cinematography is really excellent, in which his visuals are so catchy. Praveen KL's editing looks simple and neat, with a perfect finishing in his cuts. A.H.Kaashif's songs are really nice. Among that, 'Kelambitale Vijayalakshmi' and 'Dirty Pondatti' songs are my favourites. His background score conveys the emotions of lead characters in a very strong way. Through his score, we are able to get many feel-good moments.

Director's Involvement with the Script - After 'Mozhi' film, Jyothika and Radhamohan have joined together for this film. Just because of the impact of 'Mozhi', the audience had great expectations for this film. Once again, this combo strikes well with an another beautiful emotional script. His writing of every lead character, is really good. He frames the sweet and painful moments of Jyothika's character, with a good emotional bonding. His feel-good treatment as usual works very well, throughout the film. The way, he approaches the content of 'late night show' looks very matured. His screenplay execution is really superb. He gives importance to the situational humour, which is as usual entertaining. Some of his dialogues are also good.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with a good start. The screenplay goes in a good flow, with a proper balance of humour and strong emotions. Towards the interval, the screenplay becomes engaging. The interval point is really superb. In the second half, the screenplay has many feel-good and emotional moments. Yogi Babu's cameo entertains the audience little bit, in between the strong emotional tracks. Towards the climax, the emotions become little bit weak. The climax portion is really superb, which ends with an usual feel-good touch of Radhamohan.

Main Negatives of the Film - As the screenplay pace is little bit slow, the film looks lengthy in few portions. The director should have concentrated more on the emotional bonding between the parents (Jyothika - Vidharth) and the son (Master Tejas Krishna). Because, it has a great importance in the pre-climax portion. As the writing doesn't look stronger, the emotional treatment is not so convincing. Two or three scenes doesn't gel well with the main track. In few parts, the humour could have been better.

Verdict
'Kaatrin Mozhi' is really a decent and an entertaining feel-good drama from Radhamohan. His usual emotional treatment works very well in most of the portions. In between, the situational humour also works well to add an entertainment value. The performance of the star cast is really a great plus, for the emotions to be so touching. Even though there are few flaws, we can forgive it. This film deserves 'must watch once' category for Jyothika - Vidharth performance and also for Radhamohan's convincing emotional treatment. Enjoy the film with your family in theatres.
