Plot - Pandi (a) Billa Pandi (RK Suresh) is an ardent 'Thala' Ajith fan, who lives in Anaithalapatti. He loves his relative girl Valli (Chandini). But, Jayalakshmi (Indhuja) also loves Billa Pandi, by liking his character. Jayalakshmi becomes a memory-loss patient, due to a road accident. Because of that, her mentality is like a 7 year old child. How this incident plays a game in the love of Billa Pandi and Valli forms the remaining of the story.

Performance of the Star Cast - RK Suresh delivers his best performance and he justifies the worship of a die-hard 'Thala' Ajith fan in a good way. Still, it looks like a forced fitting in few parts. He scores well in action sequences. As we have seen him completely in negative shade roles, we are not able to accept him initially. He has to improve in giving emotional expressions. Indhuja's performance is not so strong like her previous films. Still, she convinces us by playing her part well. Chandini gives her best in the given small space. Thambi Ramaiah fails to entertain the audience with his humour content. K.C.Prathap, Maarimuthu, Sangili Murugan, Soundar Rajan and Amudhavanan have done their part well. Vidharth plays a small cameo in the film, which looks good.

Technical Works - M.Jeevan's cinematography looks decent, in which his visuals are not bad. Raja Mohamed's editing could have been better. His cuts looks simple, but the finishing goes abrupt in few portions. Ilayavan's songs are not very impressive. 'Enga Kula Thangam' song will attract 'Thala' Ajith fans to celebrate it for their star. His background score is also not upto the mark, which has only usual score.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Raj Sethupathy selects an usual storyline, along with an outdated treatment. Just with 'Thala Ajith' references, he tries to present it in an entertaining way. He frames RK Suresh's character in a strong way, in which every 'Thala' Ajith fan can get a small connect with it. When it comes to other lead characters, his writing goes very weak. We can clearly see that the director has focused more on the importance of 'Thala Ajith' references. If he had given the same effort in the screenplay execution, the entertainment factor would have been stronger. So, his screenplay execution works only with 'Thala Ajith' fans. Few dialogues about 'Caste Discrimination' are good.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with a decent smart. The first half is completely filled with 'Thala Ajith' references only. The screenplay maintains a normal flow. The romance track has been treated in an usual way. The action sequences entertains the audience. The interval block doesn't have a great bang. Just because of the references, 'Thala' Ajith fans will enjoy the first half. In the second half, the screenplay becomes more dramatic. 'Thala' Ajith references are not seen much. It completely depends upon the emotions. The emotional treatment doesn't make the audience to feel for it. Before the pre-climax portion, an action sequence once again entertains the audience. The climax portion looks little bit convincing, just because of 'Thala' Ajith's reference.

Main Negatives of the Film - The director completely focuses on 'Thala' Ajith references than his story & screenplay execution. 'Thala' Ajith fans are just enjoying the scenes, because of their star name. Other than that, the director doesn't score in any portions. He should have written Thambi Ramaiah's characterisation in a decent way. He should have also focused more on humour content. The story gets a start only at the interval point. In the second half, his emotional treatment looks completely outdated. As there are no much references, 'Thala' Ajith fans loses their interest. The climax is also convincing little bit, just because of the director's finishing touch with 'Thala' reference. In two or three scenes, the director's treatment of 'Thala' reference could have been more better.

Verdict
'Billa Pandi' is a below average commercial entertainer, in which the film is completely dependent on 'Thala' Ajith's name only. So, the film satisfies only die-hard fans of 'Thala' Ajith. The screenplay execution in the first half is not bad, as 'Thala' Ajith references entertains a little bit. When it comes to the second half, the execution is completely outdated and more dramatic. Other than the climax, the second half doesn't entertain the audience. This film deserves 'watchable' category, just for 'Thala' Ajith references. If you are a die-hard 'Thala' Ajith fan, just watch it for the references.
