Plot - Vishwanathan (Vivek) is a businessman. His son Arjun (Sugesh) is a well-trained boxer. Vishwanathan gives importance to his boxing interest more than the school studies. Arjun's friends (Praveen, Srijith, Vinith, Kiruthika and Deepika) are also well-trained in martial arts individually. At a stage, the parents of Arjun's friends goes against their martial arts interest. How Vishwanathan motivates them like he did to his own son and how these kids tackles few crucial situations to achieve their goals forms the crux of the story.

Performance of the Star Cast - Vivek delivers his usual best performance and his father emotions works very well. His role is like a supporting character role only. His dialogue delivery will give good motivation to both parents and kids. Devayani comes as the mother of Sugesh. In the given space, she has performed well, with a proper justification to her characterisation. Praveen, Srijith, Sugesh, Vinith, Kiruthika and Deepika comes as the well-trained martial art kids in the film.  These child artists are the real heroes of the film. They are also well-trained in real life too. In the emotion scenes, they have given their decent performance. In few scenes, they have struggled little bit to emote. When it comes to action sequences, these kids easily steals the show with their extraordinary moves. Prem Kumar and Azhagam Perumal delivers their best. The actors, who comes as the parents of Sugesh's friends, have done their part well.

Technical Works - Gopi Jagadeeshwaran's cinematography is really superb, in which visuals looks catchy. Karthik Ram's editing looks simple and sleek. His cuts doesn't have an improper finishing of a scene. Ganesh Chandrasekharan's songs are really impressive. 'Ezhada song conveys the emotions strongly. 'Ezhu Ezhu Ezhumin' and 'Poradu Da' songs are really motivational. Srikanth Deva's background score is not bad. His BGM elevates the main action sequences in a good way.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director VP Viji really deserves a great appreciation for handling this script in a very decent way. He doesn't force any unwanted elements to present this film as a commercial entertainer. He gives importance only to main elements, which the film needs. This makes the plot to travel in a right direction, without any deviation. The duration of the film is a biggest plus, as he doesn't give a chance to the audience to feel it as lengthy. He conveys the importance of self-defense and martial arts in a very convincing way. This creates a good impact among the family people and kids. Through the main conflict, he explains the need of martial arts, which helps the children to protect themselves from crucial situations. Apart from this, he also shows the politics in sports and how it plays a game in talented player's life. His screenplay execution is not bad. This makes the audience to be comfort with it.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with the history of martial arts and also about it's importance in the current society. Later, the screenplay takes few minutes for the introduction about those kids. After 'Minmini Kootamey' song, the screenplay maintains a neat flow, with a proper focus on the plot. The screenplay travels in an engaging and motivational way. The interval block looks very simple. In the second half, the film takes some time to come back to it's good form. Later, the screenplay becomes interesting little bit and it reaches the climax. The climax portion is really good, in which the stunt sequences will provide a great entertainment to kids.

Main Negatives of the Film - The first half of the film is really good. As the interval point is very simple, the film takes some time to create an interest in the initial stage of the second half. In few places, the content is only explained in an conversation manner. So, few people may feel it as preachy little bit. In the second half, the treatment of the police investigation looks normal only. Few logical loopholes are here and there. Still, the film doesn't make the audience to get a bored feel.

Verdict
'Ezhumin' is a very good martial-art action entertainer, in which the director strongly registers about the importance of self defense. How it is helpful to kids and how it makes them to face any kind of situation has been shown. Through this, he gives a great awareness to every parent. The director has focused only on the plot, without any addition of unnecessary elements. Even though there are some flaws, the screenplay execution is good and convincing. This makes us to come out of the theatre with a good satisfaction, along with great motivation to kids. So, this film deserves 'worth watchable once' for the good social content. Every parent should watch this film with their kids in theatres.
