Plot - Elango (Samuthrakani) is a medical rep and Jessica (Ramya Pandian) works in an IT company. They both get married. The couple is blessed with two kids (Baby Monica and Master Kavin Boopathi). Because of the tight schedule in their work, they are unable to take care of their children. As Jessica is very stubborn about her ambition, Elango decides to leave his job. He becomes a house-husband and he takes care of his children. How Jesssica's ambition creates a separation in the family and what happens next forms the crux of the story.

Performance of the Star Cast - Samuthrakani delivers his usual best performance. Once again, he shows the role of a father in a family. During the caring of kids, his emotions works well. Ramya Pandian delivers a convincing performance and she has justified her character neatly. Through her character, we can see the carelessness of a mother and how it affects the entire family. She portrays the nature of a career-conscious person and how they easily escape from their responsibilities. Suja Varunee plays a supporting character role. She gives her best. Baby Monica delivers her usual cute performance. Master Kavin Boopathi gets a good space in few emotional scenes. He has utilized it very well and he emotes in a good way. Abhishek Vinod and Hareesh Peradi have played their negative role in a convincing way. Radha Ravi and Kaali Venkat plays an extended cameo like role. All the other actors have done their part well.

Technical Works - S.D.Vijay Milton's cinematography looks good. His visuals has shown the beauty of a family, with very good shots. Kasi Vishwanathan's editing looks neat with simple cuts. His editing has shown the flashback and present, with a proper balance. Ghibran's songs are not bad. 'Nigara Than Nigara' and 'Pesugindren Pesugindren' songs are my favourite. His background score looks good, which helps to elevate few emotional scenes.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Thamira has selected a very good plot, which has a great connect with the current generation people. Through the primary characters 'Samuthrakani' and 'Ramya Pandian', how the job plays a major part in improper parenting has been shown. He frames their characterisation completely in a contrast way, for conveying the misunderstandings strongly. Samuthrakani's character is written in an usual way only. But, Ramya Pandian's character has been written to show  the negative side of a career-mind person strongly. How this career-focus character makes a great distance between a parent and their kids, has also been conveyed. Even though the director conveys these things strongly, he should have focused more in their emotions for a stronger impact. In few scenes, the dialogues are good.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film begins with a decent start. Without taking much time, the film directly steps into the main plot. At a point, the screenplay maintains a proper flow, by handling both the flashback and present life. Towards the interval, the screenplay establishes the point of ego clash between Samuthrakani and Ramya Pandian. The interval block is an expected one. In the second half, the screenplay maintains the same flow in the initial stage. Later, the emotional treatment goes in a simple way. Towards the climax, the screenplay becomes interesting. The climax looks simple only.

Main Negatives of the Film - This family drama is completely dependent on the strong emotions of the characters. In that emotional treatment, the director has given his best only in some parts. In the remaining portions, his treatment could have been stronger for the emotions to create a great impact. Because of the normal treatment, the impact is normal only. The simple ending is the another reason for the normal impact. Even though the director has a good content with a relevant social message, the normal emotional treatment makes the audience to get a partial satisfaction.

Verdict
'Aan Dhevathai' is a good family drama, in which the content is highly relevant to the current society. Director Thamira tries to convey a strong message about parenting and also about the causes of being 'career-conscious'. In the first half, the screenplay execution looks decent and convincing. In the second half, the emotions of the characters works well for an extent. The simple emotional treatment creates a normal impact. The emotional treatment in the second half could have been more better. Still, the family audience will come out of the theatre without much disappointments. So, this film deserves 'worth watchable once' category for the good message about caring of kids. Watch it with your family, without much expectations.
