Plot - How Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri (Kamal Hassan) and his team puts an end to Al Qaeda terrorist 'Omar Qureshi' (Rahul Bose) forms the crux of the story.

'Vishwaroopam II' is the sequel to Kamal Hassan's 'Vishwaroopam', which released in the year 2013. The first part faced many controversies during the release. After the release, the film became a box-office hit. After many years, this sequel finally hit the screens yesterday.

Performance of the Star Cast - We all know about Kamal Hassan's dedication towards the acting. As usual, he delivers a splendid performance. He scores well in both acting as well as direction in every frame. In some stunts, he really scores well. Pooja Kumar delivers a neat performance.  Like the first part, her characterisation is also utilized with the plot. Andrea Jeremiah comes as a good support for Kamal Hassan throughout the film. In the given space, she delivers a very convincing performance. Rahul Bose gives his best as 'Omar' bhai. Still, his character doesn't impress much like the first part. Shekhar Kapur, Jaideep Ahlawat and Nasser have justified their characters very neatly. Waheeda Rahman plays an extended cameo like role in the film. All the other actors have done their part very perfectly.

Technical Works - Sanu Varghese and Shamdat Sainudeen handles the cinematography of the film. Their visuals are really superb, which gives a lively feel. Mahesh Narayan and Vijay Shankar handles the editing of the film. Their cuts looks sleek, which makes the interlinking of first part scenes in a very proper way. Ghibran's songs are so pleasant to hear. His version of 'Gnyabagam Varugiradha' is good. 'Naanaagiya Nadhimoolame' and 'Saadhi Madham' songs are really impressive. His background score as usual looks good and conveys the mood easily. The CG works in the film are really disappointing. Because of this, the film touches the border zone in the technical aspect.

Director's Involvement with the Script - There is no much difference between Actor Kamal and Director Kamal. In both the departments, he usually gives his fullest effort and his view gives a clear picture of his dedication towards the cinema. Like the first part, he gives proper detailing about the terrorism and also about the activities of the spy in a very convincing way. He selects the non-linear pattern of screenplay to deal with both past and present events to make a connect with the plot. In the first part, he leaves some portions with an incomplete ending. In this sequel, he completes it with some very good interlinks. His presentation of this terrorism subject is completely different, which doesn't give an usual feel. The making of this film shows his brilliance. The dialogues of the film are really impressive. Some sarcastic dialogues gets a good applause. Even though he gives his cent percent involvement, the film makes a good connect only with few audience.

Screenplay Execution - In both the half, the screenplay is slow only. In the first half, the film gets opened with some important events from the first part in the title credits. Through 'Saadhi Madham' song, the film shows 'Wasim' character's army life. After 20-25 minutes, the film slowly starts to create an interest. Later, the screenplay moves in a good flow, with a complete focus on the plot. Towards the interval, the film slightly becomes engaging. The interval block is not bad. In the second half, the film maintains a good flow for initial ten minutes. Then, it comes out of the main track. The screenplay travels in the romantic track between Kamal and Pooja for few minutes. After that, the mother-son bonding is shown through 'Naanaagiya Nadhimoolame' song. Later, the film comes to its usual flow, which is the starting point of the pre-climax portion. Towards the climax, the screenplay looks usual. The climax portion has an usual action. Still, the ending is not so convincing.

Main Negatives of the Film - In the first part, the director has focused only on the plot and a proper format has been followed in that. In this sequel, it goes missing in some parts. This sequel doesn't give a strong impact like the first part. The lead for the sequel in 'Vishwaroopam' end-credits portion and the trailer of the film is the biggest reason for the great expectations. But, the film satisfies our expectations here and there only. Rahul Bose's characterisation in this sequel is not so strong like the first part. So, the buildup given for 'Wisam Vs Omar' is not so convincing. In the second half, the film unnecessarily travels on the romance track and mother-son bonding track. Those two tracks doesn't help much with the plot. As usual, the general audience faces some issues with the film to get connected with this terrorism subject.

Verdict
'Vishwaroopam II' is a good action thriller from Kamal Hassan, in which this sequel doesn't give a complete satisfaction. Kamal Hassan's performance, direction and dialogues are really superb. The execution of the first half looks convincing, but the execution of the second half doesn't look so strong. So, the film makes our high expectations to go low in few portions. This makes the audience to come out of the theatre with some disappointments. The general audience doesn't get a strong connect with the subject. This film deserves 'worth watchable once' category for one and only 'Ulaganaayagan' Kamal Hassan. Watch it with very low expectations.

Note - This film contains some brutal violence and many bloodshed portions. If you are not comfortable with those portions, you can avoid the film.
