Plot - David (Kishore) and Thomas (Vivek Rajagopal) decides to kidnap Swetha Perumal, to get a lump amount from her father. With a proper plan, they both kidnaps her. When her father comes to know this, he seeks the help of retired police officer 'Natraj IPS' (Sathyaraj). What happens next forms the crux of the story.

'Echcharikkai - Ithu Manidhargal Nadamadum Idam' is a crime thriller directed by Sarjun KM. He is known for his two sensational short films 'Lakshmi' and 'Maa' under GVM's Ondragaa Entertainment. Sathyaraj, Varalaxmi and Kishore plays the lead characters of the film.

Performance of the Star Cast - As usual, Sathyaraj delivers his splendid performance. In the investigation scenes, he really gives his complete justification to that character 'Natraj IPS'. Kishore delivers a convincing performance. In few portions, his emotions works very well. Vivek Rajagopal makes a neat debut in Kollywood through this film. His performance is also a noticeable one. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar doesn't get a space to show her powerful acting. Still, she gives her best for what 'Shwetha Perumal' character needs. Yogi Babu plays a very small role in this film. With that space, he makes us to laugh in between. Baby Alice and Jayakumar have done justice to their part. All the other actors gives their decent performance. Kousalya makes a decent cameo in Sathyaraj's flashback portion.

Technical Works - Sudarshan Srinivasan's cinematography is really good, in which he makes the visuals to look rich. Karthik Jogesh's editing looks neat, in which cuts have a proper finish. KS Sundaramurthy's songs are not so impressive. 'Karma is a Ditch' song is good among the four songs. His background score looks decent and he manages to maintain the intensity of kidnap in few portions.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Sarjun KM has really grabbed an attention through his sensational short films. Now, he marks his directorial debut in Kollywood through this film. His selection of the star cast only makes this simple kidnapping script to be interesting. He follows the usual pattern of kidnapping and the investigation behind it. How the situation makes the character to bring out their selfish nature has been shown clearly. With that, he gives an explanation for 'Idhu Manithargal Nadamaadum Idam'. Still, he presents it without making it bored. Because of this pattern, he executes the screenplay with a predictable flow. In the second half, he tries to break the predictability factor with some twists and turns. Those twists and turns works for an extent. His play of 'Karma' with the four lead characters is really nice. Still, the satisfaction is partial only. In the end credits, he mentions some films, from which he has been inspired to make this.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with the childhood of Kishore and Vivek Rajgopal. The relationship between them and how the situation makes them to react in different ways has been shown in a neat manner. After 15 minutes, the film directly steps into the kidnap scenario. From there, the screenplay completely focuses on the plot without any distraction. The investigation scenes looks good in between. Towards the interval, the film becomes engaging. The interval point makes a good lead for the second half by establishing suspense in that. In the second half, the film takes time to make the suspense strong. At a point, the film breaks the predictability factor little bit. The twists in between convinces us a bit. Towards the climax, the film moves in a good way. The climax looks good in which the director's play of 'Karma' is convincing.

Main Negatives of the Film - After building up the suspense at the interval, the film should have maintained a proper flow. But, the placement of 'Yaarum Illai' comes as a speedbreaker. The unwanted romance slows down that suspense in the initial stage. The logical errors are seen in between. The director breaks the predictability factor through some twists in between. But, the twists could have carried the suspense factor more stronger.  The emotional bond between Sathyaraj and Baby Alice works only at the climax. Because of these issues, the film gives a partial satisfaction only.

Verdict
'Echcharikkai - Idhu Manithargal Nadamaadum Idam' is a good crime thriller from Sarjun KM. In the first half, his screenplay looks decent and interesting little bit . But, the second half faces some issues in between. This slows down our interest in few portions. All the issues gets corrected at the climax point. Even though the climax looks convincing, the above mentioned flaws gives some small disappointments. This film deserves 'worth watchable once' category for the performance of the lead characters and also for the director's decent presentation. Watch it without expectations for a decent watch with your family and friends.
