Plot - Will Sawyer (Dwayne Johnson), a FBI Rescue Team leader loses his one leg during a mission. After few years, he helps in the security measures for the biggest skyscraper named 'The Pearl' located in Hong Kong. To get approval for the apartments, his family alone stays there. Due to the fire accident in the 96th floor, his family gets struck inside the building. How Will Sawyer saves his family from the burning skyscraper forms the crux of the story.

Performance of the Star Cast - Dwayne Johnson delivers his usual extraordinary performance and he carries the entire film on his shoulder. As his screen presence covers the entire film, the film becomes an one-man show. Neve Campbell delivers a neat performance and she justifies her role very well. Chin Han, Rolland Moller, Pablo Schreiber, Noah Taylor and Hannah Quinlivan have done their part well. Byron Mann gets a less scope to perform. Still, he gives his best. McKenna Roberts and Noah Cotrell plays as the children of Dwayne Johnson in the film. Their performance looks good.

Technical Works - Robert Elswit's cinematography is the biggest plus for this film. His cinematography shows the usual screenplay in a stunning manner. The entire high-rise building shots has been captured in a brilliant way. Michael Sale and Julian Clarke handles the editing of the film. The editing looks sleek with proper cuts. Steve Jablonsky's background score looks usual only, still it helps in elevating Dwayne Johnson's scenes. The tamil dubbing is not bad.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Rawson Marshall Thurber takes the usual storyline only. With that usual storyline, he tries to execute the screenplay in an entertaining way. He gives his best, which helps to build a small suspense in some scenes. He focuses more on Dwayne's characterisation, which makes the villain's characterisation little bit weaker. Still, he makes the audience to get connected with the film without any bored feel.

Screenplay Execution - The film steps into the main plot within few minutes. From there, the screenplay slowly starts to create an interest. Some thrilling moments are placed in between. After that, the screenplay takes time to reach a peak point. From there, the film once again travels in a right track. Towards the climax, the film creates a good curiosity. The climax gives us a feel of expected one, still it looks decent and convincing.

Main Negatives of the Film - The biggest issue in this film is the predictability factor. The predictable flow makes the audience to get a normal impact. In between, two scenes creates a lagging issue. Some logical questioning arises. As the film is completely focused on Dwayne Johnson, the other characters doesn't get a chance to impress the audience. Still, the director doesn't make the subject bored.

Verdict
'Skyscraper' is a good action entertainer, in which Dwayne Johnson's screen presence stays strong throughout the film. Even though the screenplay looks usual and predictable, the director doesn't gives us a bored feel. He makes the audience to come out of the theatre without much disappointments. So, this film deserves 'worth watchable once' for Dwayne Johnson's one-man show and also for few thrilling moments. Watch it with very low expectations because of the strong predictability factor.

Cut Short Rating - 7/10
