Plot - Rangasingam (Sathyaraj) marries Vanamadevi (Viji Chandrasekhar) and Panchamadevi (Bhanu Priya) . They have five elder daughters and one younger son. The younger son 'Gunasingam' (Karthi) is a farmer, who lives with his family happily. He is so fond of his five elder sisters. His elder sisters want him to marry either Chellamma (Priya Bhavani Shankar) or Aandal (Arthana Binu). But, he loves Kannukiniyal (Sayyesshaa Saigal). How his love matter tries to break the family unity and how Gunasingam handles it forms the crux of the story.

'Kadaikutty Singam' is a rural based family entertainer directed by Pandiraj. Karthi plays the male lead and his brother Suriya produced this film. This film consists of a multi-star cast, which is the reason behind the high expectations.  Suriya plays a cameo role in this film.

Performance of the Star Cast - Karthi delivers an excellent performance and he carries the entire film on his shoulder. He is so apt for the farmer role and he really sets a good example for it. The bond between him and his elder sisters has been executed in a good manner. Sathyaraj delivers his usual convincing performance and he score well in his portions. Bhanupriya and Viji Chandrasekhar have done their part very well. Sayyeshaa, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Arthana Binu looks pretty in every frame. They have justified their characterisation decently. Among them, Sayyeshaa gets more screen space. Soori is so comfort for the rural backdrop films. His situational humour works well and it makes us to enjoy it. All the five elder sisters have given their best performances. Sathru plays a negative role in this film. His characterisation is not much stronger. All the other actors in the film have done their part well. Suriya's cameo appearance looks good, which makes us to enjoy the screen presence of real brothers in a scene.

Technical Works - Velraj's cinematography gives us the realistic feel of the rural backdrop. His visuals look rich in many scenes. Ruben's editing looks sharp and crisp, in which he maintains a decent screenplay flow. D.Imman's songs are really good. 'Sandakaari', 'Thandora Kannala' and 'Kaalai Theme' songs gives us a superb feel. His background score looks good in both action and emotional sequences.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Pandiraj's films satisfies all set of audience very easily. He joins hands with Karthi and Suriya to present a complete family entertainer. He takes the usual rural storyline only, in which he gives his best to make a strong emotional connect with the audience. He blends the family emotions in a very good manner. Just because of this, the family audience easily gets convinced. Along with family emotions, he talks about the importance of agriculture through the character of 'Gunasingam'. This helps to motivate the younger generation to give importance for agriculture in future. Without exaggerating much, he conveys the strong bonding between elder sister and younger sister decently.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with the introduction of Ranasingam's family. Karthi's Rekla Race introduction scene looks so superb. After that, the film deals with the romance track and family sentiments in a right proportion. In between, the action sequences looks good. The interval block is really nice, by giving a good lead for the latter half. In the second half, the film maintains a good flow for few minutes. In between, the film takes some time to create an interest. Later, the screenplay completely focuses on the family emotions and also on family unity. The pre-climax portion looks very touching, in which some people may get more emotional to it. The climax looks decent with superb action sequence.

Main Negatives of the Film - The storyline is not a different one. We have seen this kind of storyline in many 90's films. Just because of that, some people may not get convinced easily. The execution of the first half looks good. But, the execution of second half has small issues. In between, the film doesn't create an interest. The placement of 'Sandakkari' song looks unnecessary. Even though it has been trimmed, the song comes as a disturbance and it slows down the seriousness of the plot suddenly. The director should have given more importance to the antagonist's characterisation. Because of that, his portions doesn't look convincing.

Verdict
'Kadaikutty Singam' is a very good family entertainer in recent times, which makes a strong emotional connect with the family audience. The importance of the agriculture is also shown in a convincing and motivational way. Even though the screenplay looks usual, the director doesn't make the subject bored at any moment. This makes the family audience to come out of the theatre with full satisfaction. 'B' and 'C' centre audience will really love it. So, this film deserves 'worth-watchable once' for the excellent performance of the star cast and also for the good blending of family emotions. Go and enjoy the film with your family for a perfect weekend.
