Plot - Thomas McGregor comes as an obstacle in the life of Peter Rabbit and his friends. This leads to a quarrel between them. What happens next and how the issues between them get sorted out forms the crux of the story.

'Peter Rabbit' is a comedy film directed by Will Gluck. The film is based on the stories of 'Peter Rabbit', created by Beatrix Potter. The film already released in other countries in the month of February and March (different release dates). In India, the film released on 6th April. Kids are the main target audience of this film.

Performance of the Star Cast Domhnall Gleeson delivers a neat performance, in which his funny characterisation is well-written. The humour portions between him and the rabbits gives a good laughter experience. Rose Bryne plays a supporting role and she strikes well with her convincing performance. James Corden gives the voice for 'Peter Rabbit' character, which gels well with that mischievous mannerism. Daisy Ridley, Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki and Colin Moody gives the voice for some lead rabbit characters. Their voice syncs well with their characterisation. Sam Neill plays a small role and he gives a good justification for it.

Technical Works - Peter Menzies Jr. handles the cinematography work of this film. His camera work is really superb, with some good visuals. Christian Gazal's editing looks good without any disturbance to the screenplay flow. Dominic Lewis's background score gives a good feel to the mood of the film. The animation done for rabbits looks so lively in each and every frame.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Will Gluck just handles the usual and simple plot, which we have seen in many Hollywood films. But, his presentation is the strong foundation for the film. His writing for the humour portions is really good and convincing. Some of his dialogues are also nice. But, he should have used different elements to make his film something different from the usual one. This makes the predictability factor so strong.

Screenplay Execution - The film opens with a good start. The chasing scene in the beginning is visualized in a very good manner. After taking few minutes, the film steps into the main track. From there, the film strikes it well with a strong humour. Till the pre-climax block, the humour stays strong with the film. Towards the climax, the film moves in a very usual way. The climax is not so convincing, but an enjoyable one.

Main Negatives of the Film - As the director follows the usual cliches with his simple treatment, the film doesn't gives a different experience. The screenplay moves in a predictable way. The emotional sequences towards the climax doesn't gives a big impact. Because of the strong entertainment factor, we will forget these flaws.

Verdict
'Peter Rabbit' is an usual comedy film for all ages, in which the entertainment factor stays strong. Even though the screenplay is predictable, the film doesn't give any bored feel. Kids will really enjoy this film. So, this film deserves a 'worth-watchable once' for a good entertainment of 95 minutes duration. Go and watch the film with your kids or your relative kids. They will enjoy the film to the core.

Cut Short Rating - 7.2/10

  1. This seems to be a very nice movie. It is going to be a fun time watching it during the vacation. I have also added some nice shows by Andy Yeatman to the watch list and I cannot wait for the vacation to start. I am also going to visit my granny this time.
