Plot - Once again, the monstrous species 'Kaiju' comes back to destroy. How Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost tackles this situation with the new team of Jaeger pilots for the survival, forms the crux of the story.

'Pacific Rim Uprising' is the sequel of 'Pacific Rim', which released in the year 2013. This sequel is directed by Steven S DeKnight.

Performance of the Star Cast - John Boyega delivers his best performance and he justifies his role in a very perfect manner. Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny delivers their best in the given supporting roles. Rinko Kikuchi shares a very less screen space, yet she gives her best. Charlie Day has a great role towards the climax, but he gets only less space to perform. Burn Gorman and Jing Tian shows their good support to the film towards the climax. All the other actors in the film have done their part well.

Technical Works - Except the editing, the film is so technically strong. Dan Mindel's cinematography is so superb, in which the visuals looks great. Dylan Highsmith and Zach Staenberg handles the editing job in the film, in which they could have done better to avoid some continuity issues. Lorne Balfe's background score elevates the action and mass destruction sequences, along with the stunning VFX works.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Steven S DeKnight concentrates to bring the output of the film as a great grandeur experience with VFX works. It works well too. The screenplay lacks to create interest in some scenes because of the simple treatment. The entire screenplay team should have worked more to bring an engaging screenplay for this usual 'saving the world' plot. But, it doesn't fall under the boring category.

Screenplay Execution - The film takes time to come to a good form in the beginning. In between, action sequences maintains a good level of curiosity. After 40 or 45 minutes, the screenplay becomes intense and it enters into the main conflict. Later, the film is completely filled with action and mass destruction sequences. As the climax looks so lively and engaging, the film gets saved from the danger zone.

Main Negatives of the Film - The duration of the film could have been within 90 minutes. In some scenes, we can relate the film with the first part. The 3-D effect is completely ineffective. Except the action and mass destruction sequences, the film doesn't create any big impact on us. As the screenplay is not boring, we will be able to digest these flaws.

Verdict
'Pacific Rim Uprising' is not a bad 'Sci-Fi Action Thriller', as the action and mass destruction sequences stays strong with the film. These two things makes us to stick with the film. Other than that, the film has some issues. But, we can keep those issues aside to enjoy. So, this film deserves a 'worth watchable once' for the stunning VFX works.

Note - The kids who loves 'Transformers' film series, will really like this film. Because the action and mass destruction sequences is slightly comparable with that film. So, this film will really work well with the kids.

Cut Short Rating - 6.6/10
