Plot - A gang of theives from Yamasingapuram village comes to Chennai to kidnap a college student named Sowmya. What's their motive to kidnap that girl forms the crux of the story.

Performance of the Star Cast - Vijay Sethupathi delivered his usual best performance and stole the show. We have to find some new words to describe about his performance. Gautham Karthik gave his best in the humour portions with his convincing performance. Niharika Konidela made a successful debut in Kollywood with her wonderful performance. Gayathrie's characterisation gets stronger in the second half, and she delivered her best in her portions. Danile Anne Pope and Rajkumar delivered a solid performance and they both gave a complete laughter riot experience with their superb humour stuffs. Ramesh Thilak scored well in his portions. Viji Chandrasekhar Ma'am gave her best in the limited space.

Technical Works - The artwork done for the 'Yamasingapuram' set was excellent, with good detailing. The cinematography work by Saravanan was too good, with rich visuals. Govindaraj's editing work was good with sharp cuts. Justin Prabhakaran's songs was not bad, but his background score was so superb, which highly elevates every scene in the film.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Arumugakumar has to be appreciated for handling a simple and usual plot, in a different angle. His writing for humour portions were nice, and it really worked well in most of the scenes. In some scenes, he could have tried it in a different manner, as the treatment of humour was not that much good in those portions. Some dialogues were so good, where the title was stressed in some dialogues. The sequel lead at the end credits was nice.

Screenplay Execution - The build-up given for the 'Yamasingapuram' village, along with Vijay Sethupathi's intro was nice. After that, the director took some time to get into the core plot. At a point, the screenplay becomes engaging and humourous. The interval block was so good. In the second half, the humour content gets stronger, when compared to the first half. In between, the screenplay falls flat and some lagging issues disturbs the flow. Later on, it was corrected towards the climax. The climax portion was an enjoyable one.

Main Negatives - Even though there was some good humour in the film, some scenes didn't work out well. The songs were not given much importance, but still lagging issues took place. Some scenes were easily predictable. The time taken to reveal the reason behind the incidents was too high. Some minor flaws were here and there, which we will neglect because of the strong humour.

Verdict
'Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren' is a very good full and full comedy drama for all ages. The simple plot was tried in a different perspective by the director. In some places, the audience may not get convinced fully. But, it deserves a 'worth watchable once' for the screen presence of Vijay Sethupathi and the strong humour.

In simple words, 'Oru Nalla Naal Poi Theatre La Pakalam'

Cut Short Rating - 7.5/10
