Plot - Prince T'Challa becomes the King of Wakanda, after the death of his father. Meanwhile, Klaeu steals the vibranium weapon from the museum, which belongs to Wakanda. When T'Challa goes in search for Klaeu, what happens forms the crux of the story.
Performance of the Star Cast - Chadwick Boseman delivers a solid performance and he gives a strong justification to the 'Black Panther' characterisation. Michael B Jordan plays the antagonist and he delivers his best style in it. Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira gives their best in the given space. Martin Freeman and Daniel Kaluuya delivers a neat performance. Letitia Wright plays as sister of Chadwick and she gives a good justification for her supporting character role. Winston Duke, Angela Basett and Forest Whitaker gives their best in their portions. Andy Serkis plays an extended cameo like role and his characterisation only leads to the main plot. Danny Sapani, who is known for his role in 'Singam 2', plays a small role in this film.
Technical Works - Rachael Morrison's cinematography looks so rich and makes the stronger foundation for the film to be technically strong. Michael P Shawver and Claudia Castello handles the editing work. The editing looks so sleak and crisp, without any discontinuity issues. Ludwig Goransson's background score elevates the film in action sequences. Other than that, his background score looks normal only.
Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Ryan Coogler is known for his film 'Creed', which released in the year '2015'. He gets an opportunity for handling the film for 'Black Panther' under Marvel franchise. His making style and the direction looks good and he maintains a good progression from the beginning to end. His focus is only on what the plot needs. In some parts, his screenplay could have been better. As usual, this Marvel film also handles the commercial elements. He also deals with the racism issues during that period, along with the flow of the screenplay.
Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the narration about the vibranium and Wakanda looks good. After 15 minutes, the film gets into the main track and becomes intriguing. The fight sequence shot in Korea is so amazing and gives a goosebumps feel to us. The interval block with the major conflict looks good. In the second half, the film takes more time to settle into the great action. The climax portion with high voltage action sequences is the biggest plus of the film, as everyone will watch it with great curiosity.
Main Negatives of the Film - The film handles some sentiments in the second half, which reminds us of many Kollywood films. The screenplay pace is slow in the second half. In some scenes, the screenplay falls slightly flat. The engaging factor becomes low at a point, but the climax gives a great relief to it. Some minor flaws are here and there, which are negligible.
Verdict
'Black Panther' is a very good Superhero film from the 'Marvel' franchise, who always stands strong with the entertaining elements. The above mentioned flaws will make us unconvinced in some scenes. So, it deserves a 'worth watchable once' for a good action entertaining experience.
Note - As usual, this Marvel film also have two end-credits scenes. Don't miss it.
Cut Short Rating - 7.2/10
