Plot - Kodiveeran is very fond of his sister Parvathi. How he tries to save the life of his sister and her husband from the baddie forms the crux of the story.

Director-Actor Sasikumar acted in many films, which mostly have the village backdrop plot. Some of those rural action flicks became a commercial success too. In 2013, he acted in 'Kuttipuli' under the direction of Muthaiah, which received negative reviews. After that, Muthaiah directed films like Komban and Maruthu, which got a warm welcome among the B and C centre audience. Now this Kuttipuli combo, once again joined hands for 'Kodiveeran'. This film was slated for it's release on 30th November. Due to sudden death of his relative and his production partner Ashok Kumar, the release was postponed. My deepest condolence to Mr.Ashok Kumar Sir.

Performance of the Star Cast - Sasikumar delivered his usual style of performance with some struggle in the romantic flavour. Mahima Nambiar came as an usual heroine and gave her best. Vidharth played a soft character and delivered his natural performance. Poorna was framed as a powerful negative shade in the trailer, but she had very less space to perform. Pasupathy played the main baddie with his usual style in it. Sanusha had a strong characterisation and scored well in her portions. Bala Saravanan made us laugh with some of his rural based humour stuffs.

Technical Works - S.R.Kathir's cinematography made the visuals of the village very lively. Venkat Rajan's editing work was good with nice cuts. The songs didn't impress us much, but background score does.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Muthaiah is always known for his scripts with the rural background. In every rural flick, he will handle a specific family sentiment. In this, he handled the affection between the siblings in both protagonist and antagonist parts. Other than that, he followed the usual templates of a rural flick.

Screenplay Execution - In the beginning of first half, the director handled the intro scene of Sasikumar in a very good manner. But more slow motion buildups could have been avoided. The romantic scenes was prolonged for a long time, which affected the time taken to get into the plot. The interval block had a nice bang in it. In the second half, the tough fight between the Sasikumar and Pasupathy was good for an extent. Some small unnecessary tracks affected the flow in between. The climax portion looked very usual with some good action flavour in it.

Main Negatives - Many punch dialogues were written with over dosage in it. It will make us uncomfortable with the track. The prolonged romance track created a lengthy duration to this script, which could have been avoided. The cliches in the film made the predictability factor very strong.

Verdict:
This rural based action entertainer is an usual one. The extended romance track affects the flow. We can't get completely fulfilled with it. But still, this rural flick deserves a decent one-time watch for the sibling sentiment and good performance of lead actors.

Cut Short Rating - 7.2/10
