Plot - How DSP Theeran Thirumaran solved a challenging case of ruthless murder and theft during his service forms the crux of the story.
Karthi is one of the finest actors in Kollywood, who reached a peak position in a short time. We have seen him as police officer in the film Siruthai, where he impressed us a lot more than his brother Suriya. Director Vinoth proved his brilliance in his debut film 'Sathuranga Vettai', which is still one of the excellent films in Kollywood. After this, he narrated a different cop script to Karthi and finally this 'Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru' released today with a bang.
Karthi delivered a splendid performance as DSP Theeran Thirumaran and gave a life to that role. We can see a great fire in his eyes. His dedication to this film deserves a great appreciation. This is one of the best films in Karthi's career. Rakul Preet played as a wife of DSP Theeran and looked cute in every frame. She delivered a good performance in the space given to her in both humour and romance. Bose Venkat played a supporting character in this film and delivered an excellent job throughout the film. The other characters also played their part well. Abhimanyu Singh delivered his usual style of terrific villainism in a very different manner. The cinematography work by Sathyan Sooryan was really nice and looked realistic in every scene. He shot some locations in North India which looked so lively, where he made us also to feel the dryness of the land. The editing work by Shivanandeeshwaran was superb. Ghibran's music was really nice and delivered his best in both songs and background score. Director Vinoth once again proved his excellence by handling a different cop script in Kollywood. Usually, some movies promote as an unusual film and deliver with an usual content. Director Vinoth, proved that formula as wrong and delivered an unusual plot in this cop thriller. He researched a lot for this film and transformed the paper work to screens perfectly. Both the investigation and cop action sequences got a wonderful response from the audience. The placement of romantic tracks 'Sevatha Pulla' and 'Oru Veetil' was just used for a minute, which was really good. The dialogues were also really nice. In the first half, the romance track between Karthi and Rakul Preet covered within the first 30 minutes. This was not an unwanted addition, but still some audience only liked it. The remaining audience got irritated with that. The screenplay gets it's top gear once the investigation behind the ruthless murder and theft starts. From there, the screenplay was so fast and made us to feel like Director Hari's fast screenplay. The interval block was really superb which made us to sit in the edge of the seat. Director Vinoth put an end to the romantic track in the first half and concentrated fully with the raw content in the second half. He made us to clap and enjoy the scenes in the second half. Towards the climax, the screenplay was really nice (Vera Level). The tribute to those sincere police officers in that real case was really superb. 'Tinga Tinga' song could have been avoided. In some places, the audience got a feel of documentary type film. But, that's not a matter. Except some minor flaws, this cop thriller is completely different from other films and it will definitely give a fulfilled feel in our hearts.
Verdict - This cop investigation thriller handled an untouched plot and it was true to it's genre till the end. Some negligible flaws are there. Just simply sit and watch this cop thriller. You will really get fulfilled. Don't miss it in theatres.
Cut Short Rating - 9/10
