Plot - How Kumar saves his friend Mahesh from the gang who are trying to kill him for the money and what's their intention behind it forms the crux of the story.
Suseenthiran Sir is one of the directors, who always comes with a new action script with a middle-class family background. The impact of his films such as 'Naan Mahaan Alla' and 'Pandiya Naadu' is still in our hearts. After the underrated film 'Maaveeran Kittu', he is back to his usual form in the film 'Nenjil Thunivirunthal', which was named first as 'Aramm Seithu Pazhagu'. This film is a bilingual film which was made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. The star casting of the film increased the value of the script as 'Maanagaram' Sundeep and Vikranth Santhosh were playing the lead roles. The trailer of the film reminded us of the 'Naan Mahaan Alla' effect. This made a strong attention towards the audience and created a promising feel in their minds.
Sundeep Kishan came as the boy next door and delivered a matured performance. His characterisation got more stronger in the latter half. Vikranth Santhosh delivered his usual style of marvellous performance from the beginning to end. Tollywood's Succeessful Actress 'Mehreen Pirzada' had a weaker characterisation as she was used just for a romantic song. If the director utilized along with the flow of storyline, she would have made us noticed. Harish Uthaman, who we have seen in many films, delivered a terrific performance with his deadly villainism. This role is his career best performance. He really stole the show with his evilness along with Imman's background theme for him. Soori's comedy portions was used less and made us little bit laugh. He gave his good support to Sundeep in the second half. Shathiga played as Sundeep's sister and delivered a neat performance. Appukutty played a supporting character and did justice to his character. All the other characters gave their natural performance. The cinematography work was really good in which the visuals looked so naturally. D.Imman's songs resembled his usual touch, but composed a good background score and made us noticed in some parts. The director treated the screenplay with some shades of 'Naan Mahaan Alla' and 'Pandiya Naadu'. But still, the impact was given to us in a mild touch, not in the deeper manner. He made a strong foundation for the friendship bond. In the first half, the screenplay flow was really good and maintained a good level of interest in our minds. He focused in the detailing of the plot in the beginning. The romance track between Sundeep and Mehreen was quite necessary. Without that portion itself, the screenplay would have been more engaging. The post interval portion was really good. In the latter half, Suseenthiran Sir's gets into his form and made us to watch the movie keenly with an engaging screenplay. Except three songs in the first half, including the title track, he didn't force anything in the second half. This really made the engaging factor stronger. He revealed an unexpected twist in the second half which was convincing. The ending of the film looked so normal with some action sequences. He finished with a sequel touch which may happen. A social message was used just with the flow of the storyline. The romantic track didn't gel with the main core of the plot and created a lagging issue. Except this, this is a neat action thriller from Suseenthiran which can be enjoyed.
Verdict - The engaging second half made the film to reach it's peak. But still, the unnecessary romance track and missing of some special elements of Suseenthiran were negatives of the film. This action thriller deserves a must watch once category for wonderful performance of lead characters.
Cut Short Rating - 8/10
