Plot - Indrajith works in an archaeological survey team under the guidance of Professor Mayilvaaganan. During the search of a precious stone located in the forests of Arunachal Pradesh, they face some hurdles. What happens next forms the remaining of the story.

This year seems to be a very special year for Gautham Karthick it seems. In 2016, Our 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi gave back to back films and made everyone entertained with his unique acting in each and every film. In this year, Gautham Karthick is once again back with his fifth film which was a long delayed one 'Indrajith'. Except Muthuramalingam, all the three films got an overwhelming response from the audience. Kalaprabu, who directed 'Sakkarakatti' with Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, again entered into Kollywood after a long time with a fantasy script. We have seen many fantasy films in Hollywood. Director Kalaprabhu planned to give the same experience to Tamil Audience with his recent flick 'Indrajith'.

Gautham Karthick delivered a good performance and scored in some parts. In some scenes, his childish acts was acceptable only for an extent. Sonarika Bhadoria made her Kollywood Debut, but still she didn't have a strong characterisation. Her portions doesn't sync with the plot. Asritha Shetty gave her best in her portions. Her characterisation was neat and not weaker like Sonarika's portions. Sudanshu Pandey delivered a neat performance and made the audience comfortable with his portions. Sachin Khedkar Sir delivered his usual style of performance and done a good job throughout the film. MS Bhaskar Sir's portions consists of some humour which doesn't work well with the plot. The other humour tracks used in the film was little bit boring and can be added as an unnecessary track of the film. The other characters had done justice to their parts. The cinematography work was good in some interior shots of jungle portions. In some places, the cinematography work was not that much noticeable. The editing work was good. The songs composed by KP was not that much good. He made us noticed with some of his good background score. The main positive of the film was the attempt of handling the action adventurous fantasy and tried to give it as an entertainer to the audience. The main negative of the film was the weak screenplay execution in which the whole concept got ruined. The CG works were poor in many scenes except some explanation using animation. In the first half, the film began in a very good manner for first 5 mins. But after that, unnecessary songs created a low interest. It took some time to get into the core of the plot. Then the screenplay was handled good for some extent. The car chasing sequence was good. The interval block was not much interesting as there was no bang in it. The second half of the film traveled in some other track for some minutes. The screenplay was good only near the climax portions. The predictability factor played a great role in the second half. The climax gave an okayish feel only. The screenplay was not engaging in both the half. If they have concentrated in CG Works, the weaker screenplay would have become little bit stronger. The director made us many logical questioning in some scenes. On the whole, this is a good attempt in Kollywood. We can watch this film for that good attempt.

Verdict - 'Indrajith' movie used a tagline 'On the Right Side'. But the film mostly traveled on the wrong side. We can spot many flaws in this film. Even though the plot is different, Kalaprabhu failed to hold the interest of the audience. This fantasy entertainer falls under 'Below Average' category. You can just watch once this film for a new attempt in Tamil Cinema.

Cut Short Rating - 6.2/10 (By Considering the New Attempt in Kollywood)
