Plot - 'SOLO' is an anthology film which deals with four different stories of Dulquer Salman without any interlinks between them.

Note: 'SOLO' film released on 5th October, 2017. Due to the ticket price hike issues and the strike, this film was removed from theatres all over Tamil Nadu on 6th October, 2017. I am unable to watch it on the first day due to some reasons. Yesterday, the film re-released in some theatres only. So, I watched today and sharing my review about 'SOLO'. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Dulquer Salman is one of the favourite mollywood actors in Tamil Nadu. He just acted in two tamil films 'Vaayai Moodi Pesavum' and 'O Kadhal Kanmani'. But, his natural performance in many malayalam films attracted our tamil audience, and created a good fan-base here. Bejoy Nambiar, the director of Vikram-Jiiva starring 'David' came up with a different experimentation after a long time. 'SOLO' created a good hype among the audience with some different teasers and trailers. The characterization of all four avatars of Dulquer Salman was based on the names of 'Lord Shiva' and the four elements of nature. The characters names in the order of those stories were Shekhar, Trilok, Shiva and Rudra. Dulquer Salman delivered a very matured acting in every frame and given different variations in every character. He is the common factor for all the stories. So, he carried the entire film in his shoulder and satisfied our expectations on him. The female leads Sai Dhanshika and Neha Sharma had more screen space when compared to other leads Arthi Venkatesh and Sruthi Hariharan. Sai Dhanshika played a visually challenged girl and gave her best to that character. Sathish's humour worked out decently and made us to enjoy that. Nasser Sir and Suhasini Ma'am delivered a neat performance. Director Bejoy Nambiar, who used the four elements of nature related those elements in every characters of Dulquer. He made a strong connectivity of those elements in every scene. The music had a very big impact on every scene of the those four stories. The visuals were also good with respect to the location they shot. The 'World of Shekhar' story was very good. The 'World of Trilok' story made us to create an interest towards it only after some time. The 'World of Shiva story dealt with gangsters which impressed us only in some parts. 'The 'World of Rudra' story was good in the beginning, but the ending went wrong as it was conveyed to the audience in a wrong manner. The serious emotion, which the director tried to convey to the audience was received in a humourous way. In every story, the director tried a very good experimentation, but the execution of those experimentation went wrong in some parts. But, still it's a good attempt in Kollywood for which we can watch it.

Verdict - The experimentation, that the director tried to convey to us worked only in some parts. This film will satisfy only some kind of audience. Some of them may hate this film. But this film deserves a must watch once for Dulquer Salman's efforts.

Cut Short Rating - 7.5/10
