Plot - 'Idhayam' Murali, who is trying to commit suicide because of his one-side love failure changed his mind after a drama by his friends. Then, he lives happily with his sister and runs a music band called 'Meyaadha Maan'. What happens when he meets his one-side lover 'Madhu' and how his life gets changed forms the crux of the story.
Director Karthick Subbaraj made an anthology film called 'Bench Talkies' in the year 2015, which contains five different short films directed by five different directors. One of the short films was 'Madhu' directed by Rathna Kumar. So under the production of Karthick Subbaraj, Rathna Kumar made his short film 'Madhu' as a full feature film and titled it as 'Meyaadha Maan'. The songs of the film created a good buzz among the audience. The teaser and trailer of the film also impressed the audience and created a good level of expectations. The sudden entry into the Diwali race along with Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Mersal' surprised the audience. Still, the film got decent no.of shows in theatres. After 'Kappal', Vaibhav delivered a solid performance and made us to enjoy his screen presence throughout the film with his funny acts. He portrayed the emotions of an one-side love boy in a perfect manner. Priyabhavani Shankar made her successful debut into Kollywood. She looked pretty in every frame but she felt uncomfortable in expressing some emotions. Still she managed to gave her best. Vivek Prasanna, who was seen as a baddie in 'Sethupathi' and 'Vikram Vedha' delivered a neat performance and stole the show. The friendship bond between Vaibhav and Vivek Prasanna worked out very well. Indhuja, who played Vaibhav's sister scored her best in the space given to her. The brother and sister bond scenes was very less but it looked decent. Arun Prasath and Amrutha did their part well. The director handled the one-side love subject in a very good manner and made us comfortable with that subject throughout the film. The pain behind the one-side love was neatly shown. The director made the first 15 mins of the film as it is in the short film. The dialogues got a good response from the audience. His screenplay was so natural and very connective. In the first half, the intensity of the screenplay flow was high in some parts and went slow in some parts. But the screenplay was engaging. In the second half, the screenplay takes a top gear and made us to enjoy many moments in it. Towards the end, some lag took place in the screenplay. But the climax made us to forgot those flaws. Still the ending has a touch of a twist in some short films. The songs composed by Santhosh Narayanan and Pradeep Kumar was amazing and gave a good feel. The cinematography work was also good. Even though the film has some flaws, it's a complete laugh riot which doesn't make us feel bored.
Verdict - The love story of 'Idhayam Murali' was engaging but still some flaws affects the flow. The flaws are negligible only. So, it deserves a special place in our hearts. This One-Side Romantic Entertainer can be enjoyed with our friends and deserves a must watch.
