Thappu Thanda, the film which was highly promoted by the social media people from the day of it's teaser and trailer release. Many meme creators, cine pages and youtube channels promoted this film in recent times which helped the film to create an attention among the people. Sathya, who is the hero and producer of the film made a good debut and his performance was decent. Shweta Gai came as a supporting character and performed well in her portions. Ajay Ghosh, who is known for his baddie performance in National Award Tamil Film 'Visaaranai' once again played a very rough and tough police role. He gave his justice to his character. John Vijay gave his usual performance with his Madras Tamil slang. Mime Gopi did his part well. Dialogues are really good. The first scene of the film created a good vibration among the audience. In first half, the director took some time to get into the core of the plot. Some shades of Soodhu Kavvum was clearly seen. The songs placement in the first half disturbed the flow of the storyline. A superb interval block made us to forget these issues. The gripping factor between the audience and the film gets stronger in the interval. From the second half, the screenplay was engaging and thrilling without any diversion in the flow. An interesting knot by the director differentiated his film from other robbery related films. Twists are also good and convincing. The untying of the knot in the climax was really good. In some scenes, I felt that editing was not good. Some logical errors were also there in between. Despite of these issues, the film still managed to hold the interest of the audience till the last scene.

Verdict - Thappu Thanda has some thappu (mistakes) which can be neglected.  An interesting second half saved this film from the border mark and deserves must watch once.

Cut Short Rating - 7/10
