Plot - Vettri (Gautham Karthik) completes his law degree and works as a junior for a well-known lawyer in Madurai. He has six elder sisters and he is so fond of them. He will lose his temper easily, whenever he finds any injustice against women. Kodumbavi Ganeshan (Fefsi Vijayan) is a very big shot in Madurai, who will do anything for his son. How an enmity gets created between Vettri and Kodumbavi Ganeshan forms the crux of the story.

Positives
Gautham Karthik delivers a convincing performance. In the action sequences, he looks energetic which helps to show the rage of his character 'Vettri' in a correct meter. His emotions work well in 'elder sister - younger brother' sentiment portions. Manjima Mohan delivers a good performance, by justifying her character perfectly. Fefsi Vijayan plays the antagonist role, in which he has carries off in his usual style. Vinodhini Vaidhyanadhan plays the eldest sister role among the six sisters. She has played her part very well. Bose Venkat comes as great support for Gautham Karthik, in which he has delivered his best. Soori's comedy track works decently in selected portions. All the other actors have given their good support throughout the film. Sakthi Saravanan's cinematography work is really good, in which he has covered the locations in Madurai perfectly. Praveen KL's editing looks sharp and crisp, which maintains the pace of this action entertainer in a good way. Nivas K Prasanna's songs are not bad. Among all the songs, 'Pasappukkali' song is very impressive. His background score is really good, which gels well with 'Madurai' backdrop. Director Muthaiah once again comes up with a usual plot, in which he has given importance to 'elder sister - younger brother' sentiment in this film. Along with that, he also gives importance to 'Harassment Against Women'. How a man should react against the injustice to women has been shown through Gautham Karthik's character. So, he conveys a small social message through his character. All the usual elements followed in a commercial entertainer, has been followed here. Still, he presents this film without boring treatment and the sentiment element makes a good connect with the family audience. In the first half, the screenplay execution is not bad. At a point, the film enters into the plot after covering the romance track & sentiment portions. In the second half, the screenplay maintains a good flow until the end. The action block in both the interval and climax portion is really good.

Negatives
As usual, the over build-up factor is seen in most of the dialogues in the film. But, this element is a trademark in Muthaiah film. I will not consider it as a great blunder, but he should set some limits to it. The logical loopholes are common in a commercial entertainer, which has been repeated in this film. Because of the usual treatment and cliches, the predictability factor plays a major game in this film. The second half will somehow convince everyone. When it comes to the first half, only a few of them will like the execution. But, the family audience will get convinced completely in both the half. You may compare this film with Karthi's 'Kadaikutty Singam' in one or two scenes, just because of the five elder sisters - one younger brother concept & the director's touch to convey the emotions. The 'elder sister - younger brother' sentiment has a major role throughout the film. But, the emotional connect could have been so stronger. So, the impact is normal only. The director could have avoided the small romance track between Gautham Karthik - Manjima Mohan in the second half, which reduces the seriousness of the film slightly. The bloodshed is seen in the action scenes. So, some family audience may feel uncomfortable with it.

Verdict
'Devarattam' is a good commercial entertainer from Muthaiah, in which the entertaining elements and screenplay pattern is already seen in many films. The screenplay execution in the first half is okay. But, the screenplay execution in the second half looks convincing. The 'elder sister - younger brother' sentiment works well with the family audience. The finishing touch is good, which conveys a good social message. The flaws are there, but the film will not make you bored. You will come out of the theatre with a decent satisfaction, especially the family audience will get complete satisfaction because of the emotional connect. So, this film deserves 'worth watchable once' category. Watch it with your family in theatres. 'B' and 'C' centre audience will enjoy the film.

Note - As there are some bloodshed portions, the weak-hearted people can avoid this film.

Cut Short Rating - 7/10
