Plot - Prasad (Rajbharath) is a pimp. One day, he gets a call from a person, who needs a girl immediately. Due to situation, he seeks his friend's help. He suggests a girl named 'Nirmala' (a) 'Nimmi' (Meera Nair). He sends her to the customer's location through a cab. Next day morning, she goes missing after attending that customer. So, Prasad goes in search of her. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

'Sigai' is a thriller drama, directed by Jagadeesan Subu. This film has been sent to few film festivals. After getting appreciation from those film festivals, 'Sigai' enters into the digital platform directly, without theatrical release. It has been exclusively bagged by  'Zee 5', for 'Zee 5 Originals'. From today, this film has been streaming on 'Zee 5'. This is the first Tamil film to be premiered digitally in 'Zee 5'.

Performance of the Star Cast - Kathir's screen presence is seen only after 45 minutes of the film. His character plays a crucial role in the mystery behind Nimmi. From the trailer itself, we are able to guess that his character has a feminine side. He really delivers an extraordinary performance, by completely justifying that character. He has to be appreciated for taking up this bold character. Rajbharath's role has a major play throughout the film. He delivers a neat and convincing performance. Meera Nair's character has a major importance in setting the conflict. She delivers her best performance, in the given space. Riythvika gets a small role only, in which she has played her part well. Mayilsamy plays his supporting character decently.  Rajesh Sharma and Birla Bose have done their part well. All the other actors have given their complete support.

Technical Works - Navin Kumar's cinematography is really good, in which his visuals maintains the mystery situation to be lively. Anucharan's editing looks simple and neat. His cuts helps the suspense element to gel well, along with the screenplay pace. There are only two songs in the film. Ron Ethan Yohann has composed it decently. His background score is really good, which helps to elevate the suspense factor to next level.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Jagadeesan Subu has to be appreciated for presenting the content in a very mature way. Without forcing any unnecessary elements, the director has given importance only for the main plot. This is the main reason behind the crisp duration of 95 minutes. The plot deals only with limited characters only. Still, he manages to maintain the suspense factor. The director has treated the mature content, in a decent way. MK Mani, N Aravindhan and Jagadeesan Subu are the screenplay writers of the film. They have given their complete best in the screenplay execution.

Screenplay Execution - In the beginning itself, the film directly enters into the main plot. After few minutes, the suspense factor builds up slowly. At a point, the screenplay becomes engaging, till the mid portion of the film. From that point, Kathir's character gets introduced in the film. The screenplay comes out of the engaging flow slightly. Later, it takes less time to pick up the engaging flow. Once again, the film becomes interesting. The reason behind the suspense element gets revealed, through the flashback portion. In that flashback portion, Kathir's performance is the only reason to get convinced with it's execution. The climax portion looks simple and decent. The director's finishing touch is good, which conveys a good social message.

Main Negatives of the Film - Few logical loopholes are seen. I liked the screenplay execution completely, till the mid portion. From the mid portion, the screenplay slows down the curiosity in the initial stage. The flashback portion is not bad, but the director's treatment creates a small impact only. So that, the strong social message has been conveyed in a normal way. Still, the director doesn't make me to get bored of the content.

Verdict
'Sigai' is a very good thriller drama from Jagadeesan Subu. Kathir's role is just like an extended cameo only. Still, he steals the show with a great performance. All the other actors have given their full support. The director has treated the main content, in a very decent and matured way. Till the mid portion, the screenplay looks engaging. After the mid portion, the screenplay could have been little bit better. Still, this film deserves 'worth watchable once' category for the good performance of the lead actors. Also, watch it for the good social message. Watch it only on 'Zee 5'.

Cut Short Rating - 8/10
