'Pyaar Prema Kadhal' is a new age romantic comedy film, directed by a new comer 'Elan'. In this film, 'Bigg Boss Season 1' fame Harish and Raiza plays the lead roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed 12 songs for this film and he produces this film under the banner 'YSR Films'.
Performance of the Star Cast - Harish Kalyan delivers a neat performance by playing as the boy next door. He has really emoted well, when he struggles in between the family and love. Raiza Wilson's characterisation has some bold shades and she has justified it in a good way. Still, she faces some issues in expressing her emotions. The chemistry between Harish and Raiza really works throughout the film. Munishkanth and Deepz plays the supporting character roles. Munishkanth scores well with some of his timing comedies. But, Deepz steals the show with his cool funny acts. Anand Babu, Rekha, 'Raja Rani' Pandian and Subbu Panchu have done their part very well.
Technical Works - Raja Bhattacharjee's cinematography is good, in which the songs have been beautifully visualized. S.Manikumaran's editing looks decent, but some of his cuts doesn't have a proper finish. This film is a complete musical treat for Yuvan Shankar Raja fans. As this film have 12 songs, the fans will have a great delight to enjoy the Yuvan's musical fest. His background score elevates the romance very strongly. This makes us to get a good romantic feel.
Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Elan has presented this romantic comedy subject, without giving a bored feel. He gives equal importance to both romance and comedy portions. Through Harish's character, he shows the innocence and true love of some boys in reality. He also deals with 'living together' concept in the film, in which he conveys that this relationship is better than marriage life.
Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with an usual start only. After few minutes, the film starts to create a curiosity. Later, the romance and comedy portions has been balanced in a right way. Towards the interval, the screenplay gets an interesting angle. The interval block is an expected one only. In the second half, the film moves interesting in the initial moments. After 'Hold Me Now' song, the screenplay becomes engaging. Towards the climax, the film makes us to feel that this will be the ending. But, our guesses go wrong. Finally, the climax arrives and it gives a not bad feel.
Main Negatives of the Film - The romantic portions in few parts makes us to remind of some super-hit romantic films. Some logical questioning arises in between. Few people may feel that the song placements as a speed breaker in the film. In the second half, the director has dragged the content. So, the second half looks lengthier. He makes us to feel that this portion will be the climax. This gives a feel that the conclusion is not a proper one. Still, the director makes us to travel with the film without a bored feel.
Verdict
'Pyaar Prema Kadhal' is a good rom-com entertainer in recent times. The director stays strong with romantic and comedy content throughout the film. The screenplay execution in the first half is good. In the second half, the director elongates the romance subject and he takes more time to conclude the film. This makes the film to look more lengthier. As the film doesn't give a bored feel, this rom-com entertainer deserves 'worth-watchable once' category to get entertained with your friends or your lover.
