Plot - Iyyappan (a) 'Japan' (Dhruvva) joins the gang of chain snatchers. They gives training to him to snatch gold chains from the ladies, without getting caught by the public. Why he enters into that gang and what's his motive forms the crux of the story.
Performance of the Star Cast - Dhruvva delivers a convincing performance, by playing the character easily. He scores very well in the chain snatching scenes. Still, he has to improve a little bit in emoting. Aishwarya Dutta plays a small role in this film. In the given space, she gives her best. Anjana Prem looks pretty and she delivers a cute performance in the flashback portion. Saranya Ponvannan plays an usual mother role only, in which she gives her usual best. JD Chakravarthy plays a good supporting role in this film. Radha Ravi's role is just an extended cameo. Mime Gopi, Ramachandran Durairaj and Aruldoss comes as the main members of 'Chain Snatching' network. They delivers their usual best. All the other actors have done their part very well.
Technical Works - P.G.Muthaiah's cinematography looks good in most of the portions. But his visuals looks slightly dull in few parts. San Lokesh's editing is neat, in which his cuts looks sleek with a proper finish of every scene. Achu' songs are not bad. The romantic tracks 'Enakku Ennachi' and 'Uruvaan Churukku' are pleasant to hear. His background score is one of the biggest plus. The intro theme for Dhruvva is superb. He helps to feel the intensity of chain snatching sequences.
Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Rahesh takes Mahatma Gandhiji's one of the words about woman freedom, as the one-line of the film. He doesn't focus much on unnecessary elements, which has to be appreciated. In the chain snatching sequences, we are able to say that the director has really done a proper research about it. How the chain snatchers target the ladies, and what are all the master plan behind it, has been clearly explained by him. Through that, he gives a precaution to the female audience. This helps them to beware of chain snatchers. His screenplay execution is not bad, but the strong gripping factor goes missing in few parts.
Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with a normal start. After few minutes, the screenplay becomes engaging and it maintains a good level of interest. In between, few portions of Aishwarya slightly deviates from the main track. Still, it has a small connect with a main track. Towards the interval, the screenplay goes in a good flow. The interval block doesn't come up with a bang, but it looks good. In the second half, the screenplay maintains the same good flow till the arrival of flashback portion. The flashback portion looks little bit lengthier. But, the major part of that portion gives a good impact on us. Towards the climax, the film once again moves in a good flow. The climax is not bad, in which it ends with an expected action sequence.
Main Negatives of the Film - The screenplay faces some predictability issues. The logical loopholes are also seen here and there. In between, few portions looks artificial little bit. The flashback portion covers half of the second half. Through that 'Uruvaan Churukku' song, the director could have shown the love of Dhruvva-Anjana, by placing the major part next to it. He could have avoided the explanation behind the marriage of Dhruvva and Anjana, which doesn't have a stronger connect with the main track. Other than that, the film gives us a convincing feel after coming out of the theatre.
Verdict
'Marainthiruthu Paarkum Marmam Enna' is a good action thriller, in which 'Chain Snatching' concept has been utilized well throughout the film. The complete process of that network has been explained well. Still, the screenplay execution has few issues. As the director's presentation is good, the film doesn't disappoint much. This film deserves 'worth watchable once' category. Without any expectations, watch the film with your family and friends.
