So, his friend Nandakumar (Karunakaran) suggests him to enjoy with a call girl (Anaikaa), to forget about his lover. Because of drunken state, Ramesh accepts it. How that decision makes him to face many troubles and how he puts an end to it forms the crux of the story.
'Sema Bodha Aagathey' is an action-comedy film directed by Badri Venkatesh. After 'Baana Kaathadi', Atharvaa joins hands with Badri Venkatesh for this film. This film is produced by Atharvaa. After several postponements, the film finally releases on friday.
Performance of the Star Cast - Atharvaa delivers his usual best performance. He scores very well in the action sequences. Mishti comes as an usual heroine only and she gives her best in the given small space. Anaikaa Soti has chosen a bold role, but she doesn't get a scope to perform. Her character is the starting and end point to all the problems. Karunakaran helps to make the audience laugh with his good humour stuffs. Chetan, Devadarshini and Manobala comes as a support for Karunakaran in the humour content. Arjai delivers his best in the given space. John Vijay, MS Bhaskar and 'Aadukalam' Naren plays a very small role in this film. Yogi Babu is just seen as a junior artist in this film.
Technical Works - Gopi Amarnath's cinematography looks so superb, in which the top angle shots have been captured in a good way. Praveen KL's editing looks so sharp and crisp. Still, the screenplay has been dragged and it has some lagging issues in the second half. Yuvan Shankar Raja's songs are not so bad. 'Semma Botha Aagatha' and 'Survival Theme' impresses his fans. He scores very well in the background score, which helps to enjoy the action sequences.
Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Badri Venkatesh gives his best to present a very good entertainer to the audience. Along with action and comedy, he also adds 'murder mystery' to make the film more entertaining. But, his treatment gives us a partial-satisfaction only. He adds double meaning jokes to entertain the youngsters. His screenplay execution keeps on travelling in different tracks. The link for the different tracks is not so convincing. As he gives more importance to humour, the film makes us to enjoy the comedy tracks.
Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with an average start. Even though they enters into the plot from the first scene, the screenplay takes more time to create an interest. Then the film moves in an entertaining way. From the pre-interval block, the film takes a different angle. The interval block is not bad. In the second half, the film has been dragged to a core. The screenplay travels into different tracks, which gives a good feel only in parts. The romance track comes as a biggest speed breaker. In between, Karunakaran makes the audience comfortable with some of his humour. At a point, the director makes the audience to wait for the climax. The climax of the film is not bad. Still, it doesn't looks like a convincing end.
Main Negatives of the Film - In both the half, Mishti's character comes as a disturbance to the film. Because, the placement of her portions looks improper. The director takes time to create an attention among the audience in the first half. From the interval block, the film should have completely focused on the main plot only. But, it highly deviates from the main track and it maintains a pointless flow. It tests the patience level of the audience. This makes the film to look like a lengthier one. The logical errors are highly seen. Just because of the second half execution, the film gives a partial satisfaction only. Some may even get unconvinced with the director's treatment.
Verdict
'Semma Botha Aagathey' is an average action-comedy entertainer, in which the humour portions and the action sequences helps the film to entertain for an extent. The first half is not bad. In the second half, the screenplay looks very dragging. This makes the audience to feel slightly unconvinced with the treatment. So, this film deserves 'watchable once' category for Atharvaa's screen presence and for Karunakaran's comedy tracks. A timepass entertainer which can be watched with your friends. Watch with very low expectations.
