Plot - 'Vikatan' magazine releases a special book named 'One Man Army', which talks about the life of a social activist 'Traffic Ramasamy', who raises his voice against injustice. Actor Vijay Sethupathi buys that book and he starts reading that. How the book makes Vijay Sethupathi to know more about Traffic Ramasamy's life forms the crux of the story.

'Traffic Ramasamy' is a film directed by a newcomer Vicky. This film is not a biopic of 'Traffic Ramasamy'. The plot of the film has been inspired from some of the true events happened in his life. Director-Actor SA Chandrasekhar plays the role of 'Traffic Ramasamy'.

Performance of the Star Cast - SA Chandrasekhar delivers his best as 'Traffic Ramasamy' and he justifies that character in a good manner. Rohini plays as the wife of 'Traffic Ramasamy' in this film. She delivers her convincing performance. RK Suresh plays a supporting role in this film and he gives his best. The performance of the antagonists (politicians and rowdies shown in the film) looks usual only. Prakash Raj gets a role only in the end-credits scene. All the other actors have done their decently. The special cameo by Vijay Antony, Khusboo, Kasthuri and Seeman looks neat. Vijay Sethupathi plays a narrator-like role, as the film moves in his perspective.

Technical Works - Kugan S Palani's cinematography is not bad, but some low-quality visuals can be seen in few scenes. Prabhaakar's editing is not so crisp. In few scenes only, his editing looks good. Balamurali Balu's songs are not bad. 'Poraali' song looks good. His background score is not upto the mark. Especially, his music in the climax portion doesn't gel well with the situation.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Vicky makes a decent debut in Kollywood through this film. His attempt to make a film based on the life of 'Traffic Ramasamy' is really appreciable. During the pre-release, the film has been promoted as biopic of 'Traffic Ramasamy'. But, he starts the film with a disclaimer that 'This film has been inspired from some of the events happened in his life'. This creates a small disappointment among the audience. He treats this film with some commercial packaging. He also deals with some social issues. This commercial packaging looks good only in few parts. Just because of the commercial package, the impact about 'Traffic Ramasamy' is not stronger. Still, he tries to maintain a good flow of screenplay.

Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film opens with a good start. The family of Traffic Ramasamy has been shown in a good way, with good moments. After that, the screenplay moves in a decent flow without any unwanted elements. The interval block comes as the half-completion of the book by Vijay Sethupathi. In the second half, the film faces some issues. In few portions, the situational humour works for a bit. After few munutes, the screenplay once again moves in a good flow. The director tries a different play in the climax portion, but it is not so convincing. But,the finishing touch is good.

Main Negatives of the Film - In some scenes, the director finishes it in an incomplete way. The court scenes in the first half is good. But, the court scenes in the second half looks so artificial and it has few amateurish moments. An unnecessary item number comes in between the second half. I don't know what makes the director Vicky to place such song, while dealing with the life of Traffic Ramasamy. The director should have avoided the commercial treatment. He should have tried something to make a strong emotional connect and also to give a realistic feel to the audience. In that way, he fails. So, the audience doesn't get a stronger impact. But, they get a chance to know something about 'Traffic Ramasamy'.

Verdict
'Traffic Ramasamy' is an average social drama, in which the commercial treatment works only in few parts. The director doesn't give a stronger impact, which is the main issue in this film. The first half looks decent, but the second half could have been more convincing. So, the audience will come out of the theatre with a partial satisfaction. Still, the film gives us some knowledge about Traffic Ramasamy's life and it gives a small motivation to us. Watch the film with low expectations, just to know about Traffic Ramasamy's voice for injustice.

Cut Short Rating - 7.2/10 (For The Good Attempt To Show The Life of 'Traffic Ramasamy')
