Plot - 'Pandi' and 'Dhoni Kumar' looks alike. Pandi loves Nadhiya. Dhoni Kumar loves 'Rajini' Radha. When Nadhiya tries for suicide, Dhoni Kumar comes and saves her. How Dhoni Kumar tries to unite Nadhiya with her lover Pandi and what's the tragedy behind Dhoni Kumar's love forms the remaining of the story.
Performance of the Star Cast - Vikram Prabhu delivers a neat performance for the dual role character. But, he doesn't give any variations to that dual role. Nikki Galrani and Bindhu Madhavi looks good in the frame, but their performance is not upto the mark. Soori plays as friend of 'Pandi' in the film, and he fails to make us laugh. Sathish plays as friend of 'Dhoni Kumar' and he too fails to make us laugh. All the other actors have tried their level best in the film.
Technical Works - S.Saravanan's cinematography gives a good feel for the rural backdrop. G.Sasikumar's editing work is not bad. Sathya fails to impress the audience with his songs. In few scenes, the background score looks good.
Director's Involvement with the Script - Director SS Surya fails to impress the audience with his weak writing and direction. The plot is too old. The treatment of the film is an usual one with many cliches. But, he should have tried some interesting elements into the film to create a small interest towards the film. I don't know how he impressed the actors like Vikram Prabhu, Nikki Galrani and Bindhu Madhavi to accept this worst script. The presentation is completely unimpressive. Dialogues looks so silly in many scenes. Atleast, he should have focused on strong humour, which may bring a small relief to the audience. In that too, he fails.
Screenplay Execution - In the first half, the film completely focuses on the flashback portion of 'Pandi' character. Soori's comedy fails to work even in a single scene. With a boring flow, the film goes on towards the interval block. The interval block doesn't create an interest for the latter half. In the second half, the film completely focuses on the flashback portion of 'Dhoni Kumar' character. Like the first half, the film travels on the same boring flow. The climax of the film looks so bad and it makes the entire audience to get frustrated.
Main Negatives of the Film - The entire film completely travels on the negative side only. The saving factor for the commercial entertainer is comedy. It also backfires, as the comedy gives us irritating feel only. When coming out of the theatre, we will get highly disappointed with this film. I don't know how this film gonna impress 'B' and 'C' centre audience.
A Special Request to Vikram Prabhu - You gave a decent debut in Tamil Film Industy by giving films like 'Kumki','Ivan Vera Madhiri','Arima Nambi' and 'Sigaram Thodu'. But I don't know why you are choosing very worst scripts like this. Please do concentrate more on selecting good scripts in the future to withstand in Kollywood and also to make proud of your father and grandfather.
Verdict
'Pakka' is not at all pakka in any aspect. The plot is usual and it contains many cliches. The director fails to impress the audience with his weak writing and direction. If you have brave heart, just watch this film once for Vikram Prabhu.
Cut Short Rating - 2.5/10
