Plot - Nagesh is a house broker, who wants his sister to get married. For dowry, he tries to sell his father's old theatre named 'Nagesh Thiraiyarangam', which is a haunted one. How Nagesh sorted it out forms the crux of the story.

Performance of the Star Cast - Aari delivers his best performance, by giving good justification to his characterisation. Ashna Zaveri plays the usual heroine role and she gives her best. Masoom Shankar makes a decent debut in Kollywood with a convincing performance. Athulya Ravi plays as a dumb girl and she delivers her best through nice expressions. Kaali Venkat's comedy track doesn't work well. All the other actors have done their part well.

Technical Works - Nauzad's cinematography is neat, but some of his shots could have been better. Devaraj's editing could have been more better to make the flow of the screenplay crispier. Srikanth Deva's songs are not so impressive. In some parts, the background score looks good.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Mohammed Issack is known for the Guinness Record of longest uncut film. He tries to deliver a different horror experience, by choosing a theatre as the backdrop and also as the main element. He blends the untouched medical crime with it. But, his screenplay execution is so bad to elevate his attempt. He follows the usual templates in the film, which should have been presented in an entertaining way. In that too, he fails.

Screenplay Execution - In both the half, the treatment of the screenplay is not in an interesting manner. After focusing on unnecessary elements, the film gets into the main track from the theatre scene. From that point also, the film struggles to create an interest because of the weak writing. The interval block is not bad. In the second half, the film once again moves with a boring flow. The flashback portion of the ghost, with the untouched medical crime is the only relief. But, it also fails to create an impact. The climax is also an usual one.

Main Negatives of the Film - Except the flashback portion, nothing looks interesting in the film. Atleast, the unnecessary elements should have been avoided. With the theatre backdrop, the director have to make an intriguing screenplay for this plot. But, he follows the cliches only. Just because of his writing, the message that the director tries to convey fails to create an impact. I don't know how a good actor like Aari selected this script. Aari should avoid these type of scripts in the future.

Verdict
'Nagesh Thiraiyarangam' is an usual horror thriller genre, in which the theatre is treated as the main horror element. The flashback portion, which deals with the untouched medical crime is the only relief. Other than that, nothing is interesting in the film. So, it deserves a 'time-pass watch' for the performance of the star cast and the medical crime issue.

Cut Short Rating - 4.5/10
