Plot - What happens when a group of robbers meets at a point for a treasure hunt in a village 'Gulaebaghavali', and how the adventure becomes interesting forms the crux of the story.
Performance of the Star Cast - Among all the actors, veteran actress Revathi Ma'am had an extraordinary characterisation and she delivered a solid performance. No words to explain about our Prabhudeva's performance. His energetic level is as usual strong and also a great backbone for the film. Hanshika didn't come as an usual heroine and she scored well in her portions. Yogi Babu scored well with his one-liners. Munishkanth's humour stuffs worked in some parts. Motta Rajendran Sir had a great role in the latter half and he gave his best in that. The other actors did their part well.
Technical Works - Anandakumar's cinematography work was excellent with good visuals. Vijay Velkutty's editing work was good with sharp cuts. Vivek-Mervin's background score was good in some parts. 'Guleba Sokkama' song had a great music beats, which will make us to dance for it.
Director's Involvement with the Script - The plot is not a different one, but the treatment by Kalyaan was something different. He presented a very good heist comedy thriller with all necessary entertaining elements. He gave importance to all the characters in the film. In some parts, he will make us to think that he should have more better in those portions.
Screenplay Execution - In the beginning, the explanation of the mystery behind the treasure was good. The screenplay travels in a very good flow. In between some lagging issues creates a disturbance in the film. After that, the screenplay takes a top gear at a point with hilarious moments. The interval block was nice. In the second half, the same lagging issue occurs and slightly disturbs the main track. After the entry of Motta Rajendran, the screenplay comes to it's usual flow with strong humour. The climax portion was the most hilarious one.
Main Negatives - In some places, Kalyaan should have tried some interesting elements to make the plot more spicier. 'Seramal Ponaal' and 'Heartkulla' song placement didn't sync with the situation, and it adds as a great disturbance to the flow of the main track. These two songs created a lagging issue. Some logical errors were here and there. But the strong entertaining factor will make you forgive these flaws.
Verdict
'Gulaebaghavali' is an usual heist comedy thriller based on a treasure hunt. But the strong writing of humour content stood strong with the film and it will give laugh aloud moments. So, this laughter therapy deserves a worth watchable once for the good humour and convincing performances by the lead actors.
Cut Short Rating - 7.5/10
