Plot - How Journalist Meera comes to know about the life of Richie and his connect with Peter, Raghu, Murugesh, Selva and Isaac in an incident forms the crux of the story.

'Richie' is an official remake of Kannada film 'Ulidavaru Kandante', which was released in the year 2014.

Performance of the Star Cast - Nivin Pauly was framed as a mass rowdy like appearance in the trailer. But, he shared a very small screen space in the first half. His characterisation was defined only in the second half. He delivered a good performance as a rugged person 'Richie'. Still, his appearance didn't make a strong impact to the audience. Natty gave his best to his portions. Shraddha and Lakshmi Priya shared a very less screen space with their usual performance. Prakash Raj Sir also had a less importance in his characterisation. Raj Bharath, Murugadoss and Elango gave a good justification to their roles.

Technical Works - Pandi Kumar's cinematography gave a fresh feel to the background of Tuticorin with some lively shots. Athul Vijay's editing was good. But, he should have made some changes for the proper flow in connectivity of those incidents. Ajaneesh Loknath's background score was very nice. In some scenes, his heavy beats disturbed the dialogues to get listen to it.

Director's Involvement with the Script - Director Gautham tried a very good attempt in handling this neo-noir crime action thriller genre. The original version had a duration of 154 minutes. But Gautham reduced the duration of this remake for the comfort of the audience. His style of narration is very good.

Screenplay Execution - In the first 15 mins, the audience had a great curiosity in watching the film. After that, the screenplay will start to test our patience level. The audience felt uncomfortable in the connectivity of those stories. The interval block was not a powerful one with a bang. Some audience will get confused at a point. Only few can understand the interlink of those stories in the beginning of second half. Remaining people will struggle to get that interlink till the climax. Director took so much time in untying the knot.

Main Negatives - Director Gautham promoted this film as crime thriller with some mass moments of Nivin. As it was completely opposite to the genre, people will get highly disappointed. He tried a different style of narration. But, it will make more time to understand with the core of the plot. Some of them will attain a confused state. He should have made some changes in satisfying all the type of audience. But, he satisfied only few of them.

Verdict
This neo-noir action thriller had many issues in it's execution, in which most of the general audience will get highly disappointed. Just watch it once for Nivin Pauly's presence and for a new attempt in Kollywood with very low expectations and high patience.

Cut Short Rating - 6.3/10 (By Considering the New Style of Narration)
