We all know that Vijay Antony is a great actor and music composer. He made his first acting debut in 2012 with 'Naan'. From 'Naan' to 'Yeman', his selection of scripts is very unique. So, people always prefer Vijay Antony's films for that unique content. After the successful film 'Yeman' in the first half of this year, his film 'Annadurai' is releasing today in the second half of this year. His 'Annadurai' film is completely different from other films, as he is playing dual role for the first time. He is debuting himself as an editor for the first time in this film. The trailer of the film created the usual level of curiosity among the audience. From the songs and sneak peeks of the film, we were able to judge that the film also contains some family emotions like his 'Pichaikkaran' film.

Vijay Antony played dual role for the first time and given justice to both the characters with his some good variations. He delivered his usual type of neat performance and has done a great job in action scenes with mass screen presence. Diana Champika looked good in every frame and did her part very well. Mahima played a neat role and stayed good in her good portions. Jewel Mary didn't have a strong characterisation in this film. Kaali Venkat played a supporting role in this film and gave his usual best performance. Radha Ravi Sir's portions were less, but still he gave his best to the role he played. Rajathirumagan Sir played his part very well. The other characters played their part well. The cinematography work by Dillraj was very nice. The editing work by Vijay Antony was really good with very good cuts. The background score was good in both emotional and action sequences. 'EMI mathri' and 'Thangama Vairama' songs were good. Vijay Antony usually comes with a unique content filled film. But in this film, his dual role is the only uniqueness in this film. Other than that, the plot and the screenplay of the film was an usual one. I don't know how Vijay Antony accepted this script. Director Srinivasan handled the screenplay of this film in a very weaker manner. The scenes in both the half was so much intense and not engaging. The screenplay contains so much of cliches and was not strong enough to form a strong foundation for the plot. In the first 10 mins, the intro of Annadurai and his character explanation through 'Thangama Vairama' song was really good. After that the screenplay traveled in very slow pace. The romantic scenes of Thambidurai made uncomfortable for the audience. After few minutes, the director gets into core of the plot and tried to handle it in a good manner. But the screenplay with low intensity didn't create much impact in the first half. The interval block was good along with a small twist and Vijay Antony's mass screen presence in it. In the second half, the action sequences was handled in a good manner. In this half, the screenplay was good for only some extent. After that, cliches took place and made our interest low. The predictability factor and logical errors were very high. The climax was also an usual one without great impact. The attempt to blend the family emotions was good, but the weaker screenplay made it wrong. I didn't expect this kind of film from Vijay Antony. I always prefer his films for the unique content. We can just watch the film for Vijay Antony's presence.

Verdict - Even though the film have a strong screen presence of Vijay Antony in this usual plot, the screenplay was so weak and failed to make a big impact in our minds. This film falls under 'Below Average' category. Just watch the film once for Vijay Antony with very low expectations.

Cut Short Rating - 5.7/10
